New Project

Well, actually it isn't new it's just that I'm finally getting around to it.  The theme of the weaver's conference this year is "Waves of Color" so our weaving guild has decided to make scarves matching the theme to decorate our guild booth.  We were each given a different color way to paint our warp with and we're all weaving with black weft.  All the rest of the project was left up to the individual to design.

My colors were red, orange, and yellow.  No being a huge fan of black and orange, I let the places where the yellow and red wick together be the orange.  After painting the warp I decided that I wanted the ends of the scarf to kind of match so I turned two sections of the warp around before threading it onto the loom.
I'm liking it.  Here is the pattern that I chose to weave:
It is a bit of a challenge in that I keep forgetting where I'm at, but I like the look of it and think it will get easier after I've done a few repeats.

I finally finished that buttery yellow merino superwash I've been spinning for ages.  Two pounds total:

This weekend we got to enjoy four quail that were roaming around our house and property; it is always a treat to watch those sweet little birds.

Aliya and Chad are due to have their first baby in August.
